A Jerrinja Local Aboriginal Land Council enterprise grounded in Caring for Country
Gumbaralarng Nursery is a Jerrinja Local Aboriginal Land Council initiative developed to supply local provenance seeds and plants from Wandi Wandian Country for rehabilitation, biodiversity, and community outcomes.
The nursery business plan sets out a clear mission: contribute to looking after Country through the supply of provenance seed and plant stock, while building long-term economic opportunity through a culturally grounded enterprise.
Alongside plant production, the nursery supports training in seed collection, processing, propagation, and practical land care so community knowledge, employment, and ecological restoration grow together.

The nursery is built around Country, cultural responsibility, and sustainable opportunity
Country is central to how the nursery operates, from culturally guided seed collection through to species selection for rehabilitation and restoration outcomes.
The nursery is intended to create practical employment, skills development, and community capacity in seed work, propagation, and environmental management.
Our focus is on local provenance species from Wandi Wandian Country, supporting genetic integrity and better alignment with on-ground ecological conditions.
Gumbaralarng Nursery is designed as a long-term JLALC enterprise that combines environmental outcomes with financial sustainability and community benefit.

Jerrinja Local Aboriginal Land Council represents the Jerrinja people, the coastal Saltwater People of the Shoalhaven and Kiama regional area, and supports land, culture, community, and enterprise across Wandi Wandian Country.
Founded under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act, JLALC works to strengthen culture, build capacity, practice sustainability, and care for Country through land management, cultural programs, community services, and strategic enterprise development.
Gumbaralarng Nursery sits within that broader vision as a practical environmental and economic initiative, supporting both cultural obligations to Country and future employment pathways for community members.
